Our Emergency Medical Technician (“EMT”) program is designed to train the lay person in emergency medical care in the pre-hospital environment. EMT students receive education and training in:
- Airway management, respiration, and artificial ventilation
- Medical and trauma patient assessments
- Medical emergencies (respiratory, cardiac, diabetic, abdominal, renal and hematologic, behavioral and psychiatric, poisoning and overdose, allergic reactions, and more)
- Traumas (bleeding and shock, soft-tissue, chest and abdominal, musculoskeletal, head/neck/spine, multisystem, environmental, and more)
- EMS operations
- And many more!
This class will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and every other Saturday. Please review the course dates prior to registering to verify that you can attend classes. Uwchlan Ambulance Corps prides itself on offering a “traditional” style of course which provides each student with lecture-based instruction as well as hands-on practical skills training throughout the course. This style of instruction is always praised by students as allowing them to maximize competency and increase confidence in their role in emergency situations. All students will also be required to complete a minimum 48-hours of clinical time at our station or at one of our affiliated clinical partners. Successful completion of the course qualifies the student to test at both the State and National levels to achieve certification. Completion of course does not guarantee certification.
Tuition includes: Textbook and course software, study guide, blood pressure cuff, stethoscope, pen light, CPR mask, trauma shears, uniform shirt, and initial NREMT exam voucher. If needed, candidates can earn a BLS certification the night before the start of class.
Student requirements: Navy or black workpants and belt, non-cloth black work boots, physician-completed paperwork
Note: All exams are done online, so access to a computer is necessary.
The following (free) online certifications will also need to be completed (links provided as a courtesy but may be changed by FEMA):
- FEMA ICS 100 (Introduction to the Incident Command System)
- FEMA ICS 200 (Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response)

- FEMA ICS 800 (National Response Framework, An Introduction)

Payments can be made with credit card or check. Payment questions can be directed to training@station87.com. Students with a station affiliation can elect to have their station billed with station approval.
EMT Candidates with a positive criminal history will have their certification eligibility at the discretion of the PA Department of Health, Bureau of EMS.
