Driving an emergency vehicle is a position of responsibility. During EVOC, students will become familiar with the safety requirements and skills necessary to drive an emergency vehicle.
The didactic portion must be completed prior to the driving portion. A written exam is given at the start of the in-person day prior to driving. Ample time is given on the driving day to practice the skills learned online.
This course is prerequisite for driving an emergency vehicle and for obtaining the EMSVO credential. This class may be eligible for continuing education credits.
Students must be at least 18 years of age on the first day of class and hold a valid driver’s license. It is also encouraged that students who have a sponsoring agency utilize their agency’s vehicle for the practical driving portion on the final day, however vehicle(s) will be available for use, if needed.
Currently, the driving-portion is scheduled on set days through our training institute given the set-up requirements for the driving course.
Course materials will be released at least one week prior to driving and must be completed by the Thursday prior to the driving part of class. The driving location is to be announced. Drivers must be at least 18 with a valid driver’s license (must provide a copy of a valid license for verification by Thursday prior to the day of driving). Students are encouraged to bring vehicles from their sponsoring agencies. If a vehicle is needed for testing, student must be at least 21 years of age to use our vehicles.
